Clairview Island

Clairview Island is one of the last remaining undeveloped Islands within the Whitsundays which makes this property a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Clairview Island is south of the general Whitsunday area and is situated in the Pacific Ocean halfway between Rockhampton and Mackay. It has long been used as a coastal grazing property and is still running 100 head of stud drought master cattle. Previously the island was used for fattening cattle on the salt plains which exist on the western side. There is still evidence of this in the form of old fences, cattle yards and the remains of a homestead. An air strip has been built over where the old homestead used to be, and it is now the main access point to and from the Island.

This island is divided from the Queensland coast by two sizable creek systems and occasional access to the mainland is available at extremely low tides at one point over the salt pans. The island is long and narrow running approximately north/south. The inland is heavily timbered with coastal forest varieties, ranging from dense tropical rain forest to Ironbark, Bloodwood and Gum. The hill areas of the property give magnificent views to the local Islands and back to the mainland ranges.

Clairview has access by boat from the little beachfront township of Clairview which is situated approximately one hour and twenty minutes driving time south from Mackay on the Bruce Highway. Mackay is serviced by a jet airport, rail and seaport and is the gate-way for The Great Barrier Reef and the Whitsunday Islands. The mouth of Clairview Creek and Cattle Creek provides a safe deep water anchorage. The Island can also be accessed by light aircraft as the Island has an airstrip and a hanger complex.
